Big tech companies are under fire for allegedly attempting to tip the scales in this election cycle.

Google and Meta are now accused of censoring content related to the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. Both companies have released statements saying what happened on their platforms was not deliberate.

Supporters of the former president took to X to post what they’ve noticed, such as Meta labeling a highly circulated photo of Donald Trump in the moments after the shooting as “altered.”

Other conservative critics, including Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., allege Google purposefully blocked search terms related to the assassination attempt.

A Facebook spokesperson admitted to an “error,” saying the issue has been fixed.

Google told Fox Business no “manual action was taken” regarding their content.

The former president called it “another attempt at rigging the election” in a social media post urging supporters to “go after” Meta and Google.

Democrats are also feeling targeted. X, formerly known as Twitter and now owned by Trump supporter Elon Musk, temporarily locked the account “White Dudes for Harris” after the group raised $4 million for Kamala Harris.

X reinstated the account a few hours later after a windfall of complaints.

GOP lawmakers are now getting involved. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., wrote a letter to Homeland Security Director Alejandro Mayorkas demanding they hand over any documents on big tech’s alleged censoring of the Trump assassination attempt.
